Elk population in Poland is increasing

03.29.2015 At the turn of February and March this year, elk counts were held at the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Lublin. Almost 5,000 people took part in the counting, the counting was carried out using the test method on randomly selected surfaces based on the sampling frame. The population of elk in Lublin forests is estimated at 5080-5993. This is twice as much as in 2013. The increase in the population is associated with more damage to forest crops - foresters inform. Thanks to the moratorium, i.e. a complete ban on elk hunting in Poland, the population of these animals has been gradually increasing for several years. (photo sxc.hu)
