August Perseid Concert

08.02.2013 August is traditionally the month in which you can observe the most shooting stars. Meteors from the Perseid swarm are active from July 17 to August 24 and reach their maximum typically around August 12. The conditions for observing the swarm are very good, because the new moon falls on August 6, and the first quarter August 14. Our natural satellite will not interfere with your observations. The beginning of August is a time when we can be tempted to find Mercury. An hour before sunrise, the planet shines low, because only 5 degrees above the eastern horizon. The best conditions for observing it will occur around August 4. What do we need to enjoy the beauty of the starry sky and the Perseid concert all night? The most important is the place - as little as possible contaminated with artificial light coming from Earth, welcome outback high in the mountains. There is a Star Sky Park in the Bieszczady Mountains - an ideal place for the August screening, but there are many more such places in our country, just take a good look at the map.
